“ Busy corner cafe. Parking is a challenge if you're coming from out of the area - to be expected though once you're in this busy neighborhood. Ordered the Cuban Sandwich (garlic spread on the side), Cuban beef empanadas, ham croquettas, papa rellenas, rice and black beans and sweet plantains. This is our usually order at Union City's La Gran Via but we wanted to try someplace different and a friend recommended we try this spot. Glad we did! Everything was good! We also tried the chicken soup and it definitely reminded me of homemade goodness! Reasonably priced too and the staff were very friendly. Will definitely try some of their other dishes next time! ”
“ Locals are scrambling because legendary La Pola (Cuban sandwich spot) is temporarily closed (again) and unfortunately it's looking like it may be closed for good. Now everyone is wondering where they're going to get their Cuban sandwiches so I said, heck let me get to work and start trying some out. I stopped in for lunch at Centro Latino II and was pleased to see a Cuban section and Colombian section of the menu. Cuban-Colombian, a match made in heaven? Question mark? I appreciate their daily specials and the variety. I had a light meal, sopa de pollo, maduros, Cuban sandwich, side of buttered toast and plenty of water = $17. The chicken soup is AMAZING, it tasted like my mom made it. 10/10 no notes. The Cuban was also surprisingly good, pretty thin but very flavorful, mojo forward, and the Swiss cheese was nice and melty. It stayed warm to the last bite. This spot gives me diner vibes because they serve breakfast all day, there's a counter with diner stools, it's BYOB and VERY affordable. I saw a mean review where someone complained about a waitress not knowing what a colada is and how this place puts Cuban food to shame, she was really mean and it's probably because she needed those 3-6 shots of espresso pfffffffff. I really liked it here and to be honest, Cuban food and Colombian food are my least fav (terrible, I know...I'm half Colombian). Anyway, I will be back!!!!! ”
“ I have been coming here since the 90's and the place is great. Service is good and the food has good quality. Bathroom is always clean, which is a plus. There's a small parking spot in the rear for at least 3 or 4 vehicles. Food is always fresh and hot. Would recommend going there. Try their arroz moro or the Cuban sandwich. Both are just great ”
“ The employees were friendly and it seemed like they have regulars seeing as they knew people's names. The food didn't take long and it was steamy which made it feel more like home cooked meal. I ordered an orange and carrots juice, and I was wondering if it was going to be freshly squeezed or concentrated and to my surprise it was freshly squeezed right in front of us, which made it even better. The empanada wasn't anything I expected which was good. It was a cheese and guayaba empanada and the saltiness and sweetness was a great combination. I would definitely come here again once I'm in the area! ”
“ My family and I have been ordering from here for years. It's one of our takeout go-to's. I don't think I've ever ordered anything that was ever bad. Some of my favorites here are the masitas de puerco (fried pork chunks -- pretty sure this is a daily special), tamal en cazuela (cornmeal soup --Wednesday soup), pollo a la plancha (chicken breast), and the batido de trigo (it's like a cereal shake, sounds weird but it is DELICIOUS), and their red beans!! What I love the most about this place compared to other restaurants in the area is that they don't over season their food with salt which gives you the option to actually make it to your liking. Nothing is really ever that greasy and it's just overall pretty enjoyable. You won't find anything fancy here as it is basically a hole in the wall but you will always have good food at a decent price. They're pretty quick to pack up your food for takeout however, they delivery VIA bicycle so if there's inclement weather, they won't deliver at all and you're forced to order pick up. ”
“ This place was soo amazing! I came to Guttenberg to visit a friend who lived up the road; we decided to stop by for lunch. We were a little resistant by the empty restaurant, but were overwhelmed by the quality of the food! We joked that we brought the business in because by the time we left the place was packed. I'll keep it short and sweet; we ordered a surplus of food. Shrimp in Garlic Sauce and Chicken in Lemon Sauce. Each dish came with 2 sides, we got Black Beans, Plantains, Tostones, Salad. The dish is served with Garlic Bread & White Rice. The food was delicious! Everything was packed with flavor, and the portions are huge! We were stuffed to the brim and a decent amount of leftovers. (Enough for a plate) I highly recommend! ”
“ Centro Latino is one of my go to spots in the neighborhood. It's been my breakfast stop for a very long time where you can get a simple Spanish breakfast for a low cost. I've had eggs, chorizo, potatoes with cafe con leche. Let's not forget the pressed bread with garlic butter. They have the best cafe con leche in town. It's the perfect mix of hot milk and cafe where it's not too milky and not too dark. I've had dinner there as well and my favorite is the baked chicken as well as the yellow rice with pork chunks. The food is flavorful and comforting. The staff is always friendly. Do yourself a favor and get the chicken soup. That soup has helped me through times when I've been sick. It's a traditional chicken soup with lots a flavor. It's not salty or over seasoned. It's jut right to soothe your soul. On a cold day Centro Latinos chicken soup and cafe con leche call my name ”
“ The food is always good here. Good variety and authentic. I've had almost everything on the menu except the Cuban sandwich! For some reason it just doesn't appeal to me. But everything and I mean everything I've had has been great. From the fresh coffee (step aside star-who!) and delish buttery garlic toast, to the chicken soup with sweet corn that is actually sweet. And the plates of the day.... the red beans alone are amazing! The place has a diner-like vibe and the staff is nice. They have tables on one side and towards the back, and stools at the counter. They are BYOB which is great since there is a liquor store across the street. So why only 4 stars? They say they deliver but they really don't. I mean they do sometimes but not always. There is no set time for delivery and if you can actually get them to do it you'll be waiting a very long time. I tried to order over a dozen times and I was successful twice... both of which took over an hour to get the food and they got the order wrong. But that won't stop me from going. The food is worth it. ”
